Alan McDougall is a Professor of History at the University of Guelph, Canada. His research and teaching interests are focused on European sport, modern Germany, and European cinema. He is the author of The People’s Game: Football, State and Society (Cambridge, 2014) and Contested Fields: A Global History of Modern Football (Toronto, 2020) and is currently writing an international history of Liverpool FC from Shankly to Klopp.
